THE FOUNDRY
The Foundry at Unite is a Christian leadership training school all about learning what it means to be a genuine disciple of Jesus Christ. Disciple in it’s simplest form means follower. As Christ’s disciples we are learning to lay down our own lives, to pick up our “crosses”, and to follow him in sacrificial service to the King of Kings. We desire to worship in spirit and in truth. THE FIRST COMMANDMENT. Key verse:
In Mark 12:30-31 Jesus said “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Heart:
It is of utmost importance that at the core of our faith is our love relationship with our Father God, our savior Jesus Christ, and our empowering companion the Holy Spirit. Students will learn to cultivate their relationship with all three persons of the Godhead because to truly know Him is to love him. From that place we can to learn to love ourselves and to love others but this can only happen through an unshakable understanding of the unconditional love of God. Foundry students will develop foundations in loving God, themselves and others.
Soul:
Our souls are made up of our mind, our will, and our emotions. Our personalities: gifts and natural abilities play a leading role of our soul as well as the history we have walked through. It is of utmost importance that todays leaders work through issues of the soul that will determine their effectiveness in marriage, relationships, and ministry to others. Foundry students will learn to identify their “shame messages” as well and work thorough historical injuries gained through living in a fallen world.
James 1:2-4 says, “Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” The Foundry students will be challenged to feel and deal with their soul injuries in order to move forward as an overcomer. These transformations will become their most powerful personal testimony as they walk out the redemptive work of Christ in and through them.
Mind:
2 Timothy 15 says “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
In the midst of the most identity confused generation in world history, Christians now, more than ever need to know that there is right and wrong, that their identity is as a precious child of a good heavenly father, and that He has a wonderful purpose for their lives. Students will learn the truth and be able to identify Satan’s lies. This paradigm shift will empower students as they truly learn to value themselves and others and to please God above all.
Romans 12:2 says, “Don’t copy the behaviors and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Throughout the course of the year students will learn from inspirational Bible teachers as well as participate in class discussions and debates. We challenge our students to think for themselves rather than simply telling them what they need to believe. It is in this environment that students will learn about God, themselves and others through the study of biblical principals and sound bible doctrine. Students will learn to hear the voice of God and practice partnering with Him through the gifts of His Holy Spirit.
Strength:
James 2:17-18 says, “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, ‘You have faith, and I have works.’ Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”
Students who have completed year one and year two of The Foundry may be invited to serve as an intern. Interns will have direct access to a mentor at Unite Church and will assist their mentors in the practical help of their ministries. Our third year “internship” is still in developmental stages and set to launch in the fall of 2023. Internships are a practical hands-on approach to our faith. Students in this phase will embark on a 12-month practicum. This is where the classroom becomes practical and leadership skills are applied through daily living. Expect to spend time serving, evangelizing, and building the kingdom through W-O-R-K.
Interns will be equipped in evangelism and go out into the neighborhoods and parks, telling others that Jesus lives, loves and saves, and praying for anyone who has a need for it. Interns will be equipped in alter ministry, sound and lighting, children’s ministry, drama, worship, preaching, teaching, counseling, community service, practical helps, administration, building and property maintenance, and every aspect of ministry. The Foundry internship is a practical model of Christian living.
Students will gain applicable skills, Christian character, and strong work ethic to apply in everyday life, along with confidence in Biblical truth, spiritual knowledge, and healthy emotional and physical practices.
We emphasize the practices of dying to self and picking up your cross to follow Jesus. We believe in wholistic education. It is our mission to pour solid foundations of faith into our students, not only academically, but also into their hearts and souls. This is done as we walk alongside each of our students relationally, and connect on a heart-to-heart level, teaching them to navigate real life as it affects them in an open, safe, and honest context.
The Foundry is not for everyone but it is for those people who want to experience what it mean to be not just a Christian, but a disciple of Christ. It is for those who are tenacious in pursuit of the high call of Christ Jesus. The Foundry at Unite is for those determined individuals with tenacious faith; faith that will not give up when hardship comes, but rather doubles down in determination with a vision to expand the Kingdom of God for the sake of the lost.
